Los Angeles, CA, November 4, 2006 - It's important to be earnest about at least some things---and we think making art is one of them. Join us on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. for some rather earnest---and honest---music. The other-worldliness of William Harrington will usher in the sublime angelic voice of Esperanza, with the "lush nouveau stylings" of Cat Hair Ensemble following suit. All this is couched in the spiritual sculpture-scape of Nancy Evans' "Keeping Body and Soul Together." You couldn't ask for a better hand-up to heaven.
We're located at 1020 East Fourth Place, between Molino and Mateo Streets, in the back of the 500 Molino Street Lofts, #102, between the Fourth Street Bridge's (the bridge on the LA River side of downtown) two on/off ramps. See our website http://dangerouscurve.org for directions, pictures, and updates.
More details about the performers:
William Harrington
>From Yonkers, New York, he was working as a professional musician while still a high school sophomore. His mentors include Richard B. Evans, author of the classic book on John Cage, "The Well Prepared Piano" and composer Nicholas Slominsky. He worked with Frank Zappa for three years, including three American tours, two European tours, and several months in the studio working on the album "Baby Snakes." He made a brief, credited appearance in the movie of the same name. He was with Zappa in Paris when Pierre Boulez first visited him. Harrington's first CD, "Urban Electronic Music," has received good reviews and airplay on NPR, college, and indie radio stations. It was constructed using loops recorded over a 30-year period, both analog and digital synthesis, as well as traditional instruments and found objects. Recently, Harrington has performed at The Ventura New Music Festival and electro-music 2006 (Philadelphia). He appears in the indie film, "40 Bands in 80 Minutes!
," the premiere of which he will be rushing off to after playing.

Esperanza
Esperanza, who will sing songs with music and lyrics by experimental bassist Drew Schnurr and herself, has the evolved soul of an artist that can channel something way larger than herself. That's the best thing we can say about any artist. She is a long-time favorite who sounds especially good in Dangerous Curve's boomy space. When she takes the mic away from her mouth and just resonates the room, she can make grown men cry. (We've seen it!) You'd never know she once broke her neck in a car accident. Her vocal coach Ron Anderson allowed the woman who sang worse after studying at the best opera school in the country to find her real voice.
Cat Hair Ensemble
Cat Hair Ensemble was formed in early 2005 as an outlet for the musical obsessions of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Roderick Cumming. The group was originally imagined as a rotating line-up of musicians sympathetic to Mr. Cumming's interest in early jazz, French chanson and musette, German theater music, American folk, and art punk. However, after a couple of shows with bassist Michael Ibarra (also of Killsonic and El Haru Kuroi), bass trombonist Joe Tepperman (Killsonic, The Nourishment), trumpeter Andrew Duncan (The Wedding's Off, The Ebola Music Orchestra), and guitarist/banjoist Clint Heidorn (Radiation 4), an honest-to-goodness band coalesced. The recent addition of drummer Spencer Savage (Stay Home) has added some muscle to Cat Hair Ensemble's crooked waltzes, nervous tangos, and gallow's swing. The band recently finished a one and a half year-long monthly residency at Mr. T's Bowl in Highland Park, who was proud to present some of the best and weirdest local!
and national touring bands.
