[DowntownArtists] Hate mail

I've been reading this thread and I'm not sure why people are so
upset...artists are among the most difficult group of humans to
organize. Actually I don't think it's possible. The thing about
Martin Durazo is kind of funny. It doesn't really matter whether you
like/respect his work or not...he's one of us, we're all quite
different. As far as I know, no one has ever really been able to
organize artists and I think that's OK too. Health care would be nice
but I think all Americans probably feel this way not just artists. As
far as marketing...well my day job is PR and what can I say????

I think the idea of being in service to artists in terms of housing,
studio space, suppliers, etc is very useful and fair. Discussing
ideas would be fabulous but there are so many artist who can barely
pay rent now and the focus on trying to make money seems to loom
large, at least is does for me.

I welcome discussions and hanging out (in all my spare time) and I'm
back downtown after a ten year hiatus. I lived DTLA from 1987-96 and
now I'm temporarily at the SF Art Colony..still looking for a
live/work space of my own.

Lisa :)
